Learn how to move through and and transform intense emotions. No more need to suppress, deny, or hide, from these powerful forces because you will know what to do when an intense emotion arises.
We live in an amazing time. A time when modern psychology is learning what meditation traditions have known for aeons:
Emotions suppressed will rise again.
Most of us were taught to handle emotions by suppressing, stuffing or ignoring them—which doesn’t work. They erupt when we least expect it and can cause us to react in ways that are totally out of proportion to the situation at hand. But there is another way.
Meditation traditions have long taught the skills to move through emotions so we can heal and regain our wholeness. R.A.I.N. is the acronym given by Michelle McDonald for one of these techniques. It is a simple, easy to learn, method that was one of my main foundational practices for years—because it works!
In the workshop you will learn:
- Ways to recognize intense emotions in the body without running away, denying, suppressing or ignoring them.
- How to navigate intense emotions safely and consciously—without collapsing into and/or being overwhelmed by the emotion.
- How to transform these emotions whether they are long-held wounds, wrongs you’d forgotten, or any one of the many emotions that can arise during your day.
The workshop includes exercises to help you understand how and why the technique works. But more importantly, you will have the opportunity to practice the technique so you will know how to use it when you need it. You will discover what meditators know:
Emotions acknowledged will heal.
This RAIN technique will help you transform emotions like anger, shame, fear and grief, into equanimity, compassion, kindness and wisdom. The technique works! If you consider yourself a meditator, and haven’t had a chance to learn RAIN, I hope you will join me.
