Along with the fundamentals of mindfulness and meditation, this series will begin introducing what it means to be a ‘friend’—from a meditators perspective.  Our experience has shown us that practices around the concepts of ‘friendliness’ and metta (loving kindness) are pertinent and helpful to kids in this age group. We’ve decided to get real and share with them the teachings that will help them recognize:

  • What it really means to be a friend to others and ourselves,
  • Kindness and compassion are the antidotes to bullying and meanness,
  • Finding compassion and kindness for ourself is the source of a strength that will carry us through hard times,
  • How to navigate strong emotions.

Meditators have a different value system—it’s not about popularity or status. It’s about being:

  • Authentic and accepting of our unique selves,
  • Understanding and kind to others,
  • Understanding and kind to ourselves.

We believe each child is precious and unique. Our hope is to help your tween see it, believe it, and give them the skills to own it—no matter what others think, say or do.
